Monet's Card
Turn light, water and pigment into a card no one else has.
What is Monet's Card?
Monet's Card is a studio that paints with an algorithm: Claude Monet's language of painting — soft palettes, short layered strokes, quiet light — turned into a creative tool you can adjust by hand.
- Unique every time·Every card is derived from a cryptographic seed, so no two are identical.
- Monet-inspired colour·27 palettes distilled from his paintings, from Impression, Sunrise to the dense foliage of Giverny.
- Text that belongs·Open-source calligraphy fonts (SIL OFL 1.1) laid over the painting — double-click to edit in place.
- Export anywhere·PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, animated GIF, a pasteable HTML snippet, or print to PDF.
How to create a Monet-style card
- 1
Choose a palette
Pick one of Monet's palettes, select a mood, or upload a photo and let the Wu quantizer extract a harmonised palette.
- 2
Shape the layout
Drag down or up on the canvas to pull out the bands, and drag the top-left handle to round the corners. The bottom bar holds stroke density, and the “Sparsity” button opens the three bias sliders.
- 3
Add text
Click “Add text” on the canvas and then click where it goes, or just double-click the card; text dropped into a band centres itself like a signature.
- 4
Export
Pick the format in the bottom bar: PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, animated GIF, a pasteable HTML snippet, or print to PDF.
The colours of Monet
Every palette in the library is a distilled impression of a painting or a period — not a filter. The generator samples these colours with their own weights, adds a ±5% hue jitter to each stroke, and lets pigment mix optically on the canvas.
- Early
- Early works: gardens, beaches and snow, painted beside Boudin and Jongkind.
- Impressionist
- The impressionist years: sunrise, poppies, railways and haze.
- Series
- The series: haystacks, cathedrals, poplars and London fog, the same subject under changing light.
- Late
- The late garden at Giverny: water lilies dissolving into pure colour.
Upload any photo and its colours will be softened toward the nearest Monet palette — 70% your image, 30% Monet.
Meet the real Monet's garden: pathway, pond and house
At Giverny, Monet planted the flower pathway and Monet's pond himself — Monet's water lilies, the Japanese bridge — and painted them for more than forty years. This page gathers the pathway, the Japanese bridge, Monet's house, and where his paintings live today. Then come back and paint with the garden's colours.
Frequently asked questions
Is Monet's Card free?
Yes. No account needed — every creative tool is free to use.
How do I make a Monet's garden painting as a card?
Pick a Giverny-related palette (the garden foliage or water-lily sets) in the palette panel, or upload your own garden photo to extract its colours; tune stroke density and the white bands, then export PNG, SVG or an animated GIF.
Can you still visit Monet's garden?
Yes. Monet's garden at Giverny, France — the flowerbeds, the pond and Monet's house — opens each spring to autumn; our Monet's Garden page covers the pathway, the pond, the house and where the paintings are.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Reference photos are only used to extract colours on the spot and are never saved.
Why is every card different?
Each card is derived from a random seed that drives palette choice, composition, stroke direction, density, sparsity, texture and glow. The same seed always reproduces the same card, but fresh seeds are one in four billion.
Which fonts are used for the text?
Open-source fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 — Long Cang, Liu Jian Mao Cao, Zhi Mang Xing, LXGW WenKai TC and Ma Shan Zheng for Chinese, Playfair Display, Cormorant Garamond, Dancing Script and EB Garamond for Latin.
What can I do with an exported card?
Exports are saved straight to your device; what you do with them afterwards is up to you.
